Clift is Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Health Care Service Corporation (a Mutual Legal Reserve Company, operating through its Divisions, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma). In this position, Ms. Clift has overall responsibility for the Illinois Legal Department and litigation in Illinois, Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Ms. Clift joined the Company in 1985 as Associate General Counsel I, became Associate General Counsel II in 1987, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary in 1992, and Vice President-Legal & Assistant Secretary in 1999. Ms. Clift was appointed to her current position in 2002. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Ms. Clift served from 1981-1985 as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Civil Division of the Cook County State’s Attorneys Office. Ms. Clift received her Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School in 1981 and a Masters of Law in Health Care Law from DePaul Law School in 1996. Ms. Clift is a board member of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Federal Bar Association, Chicago State University Foundation and Chicago Bar Association. She is a member of the Legal/Judicial Subcommittee of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce and was recognized as one of the Chicago United 2005 Business Leaders of Color.
