| Patricia Reid Lindner lives in Aurora and served in the legislature for 16 years from 1992 to 2008. She a member of the House Republican Leadership team and served as the Assistant Minority Leader. She served on several key state committees. She was the minority spokesperson for Judiciary II - Criminal Law, Child Support Enforcement, and Adoption Reform.. She also served on Elementary and Secondary Educations Appropriations, Banking, Labor, Gaming, and Environmental Health. She was appointed to serve on the Legislative Ethics Commission, and the Juvenile Justice Transition Team. She was also a member of the Conference of Women Legislators, Educations Caucus and the Fire Caucus.
Pat graduated from East Aurora High School and then received a Bachelor of Science degree in speech from Northwestern University. She went on to earn a Master of Science degree in political science from the University of Colorado and Juris Doctor degree from Northern Illinois University.
Before entering the legislature, Representative Lindner was a family law attorney. She previously served as a court appointed attorney for the Kane County Juvenile Court and was an Assistant Public Defender. She was on the Kane County Family Law Committee for several years and served as chairperson of the Kane County Bar Association Legislative Committee.
Representative Lindner has a lengthy history of involvement in the governmental and political processes dating back to her work in five congressional campaigns for her mother, former U.S. Congresswoman, Charlotte T. Reid. She is a life-long Republican and active member of her community. Pat has been a member of the Aurora Republican Women's Club since 1968 and was a precinct committeeman in Sugar Grove Township.
Prior to her legislative career, she served on the Family Counseling Board of Directors, the Women in Management Board of Directors and the UWCA Bard of Directors. She has held membership in the American Association of University Women, the Women's Development Council of Waubonsee Community College, the League of Women Votes, the Child Welfare Society and the Paramount Arts Endowment Committee. She also provided legal aid for the YWCA for 10 years.
Among her honors are the Champion of Justice Award from the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation and the Equal Justice Illinois Campaign, 2008; the Jim McNish Advocacy Award from the DeKalb, Kane-South and Kendall Counties Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2008; the Illinois Agricultural Associations Activator Friend of Agriculture Award, 1997-2007; and Illinois Psychological Association Legislator of the Year Award, 2006. She was recognized for her valuable contributions to the History Preservation, 2006; the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence Human Dignity Award, 2004; Illinois Nurses Association Legislator of the Year, 2001; Illinois Crime Commission Legislator of the Year, 2000; Northern Illinois University College of Law Distinguished Service Award, 1999; Illinois State Bar Association Presidential Commendation, 1999; and Friend of Business Award, 1998.
Pat has been honored by her community agencies serving the disabled, her school districts and business organization, the Illinois Library Association, the Boys and Girls' Club of Dundee Township, the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Community Crisis Center, Ag Tech at Teeple Barn, and the Illinois Groundwater Association. She was also awarded the National Charlotte Danstrom Award in the Government, and the Women of Achievement Award from Northern Fox Valley Chapter of Women in Management.
Patricia Red Lindner is a life-long resident of Kane County. She and her husband, George, have been married 46 years and the proud parents of four children and seven grandchildren.
