Victor P. Henderson is a partner in the firm’s litigation department. His practice includes trial and appellate work in both state and federal court in cases involving product liability, contracts, employment matters and complex commercial litigation. He has tried and arbitrated numerous cases to verdict and participated in mediations. Mr. Henderson is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois as well as the Eastern District of Michigan. He has argued cases on appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Illinois Appellate Court. Mr. Henderson is also a member of the Trial Bar of the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Henderson practiced as a certified public accountant.

Mr. Henderson was recently elected as the First Vice-President of the 22,000 member Chicago Bar Association. He is in line to become the CBA President in June 2007, becoming only its fourth African-American president in 125 years. He also sits on the board of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation as its President. The IEJL awards over 3.5 million dollars per year to pro bono organizations across the State of Illinois.

Mr. Henderson has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the Public Interest Law Initiative, is a past financial secretary for the Cook County Bar Association, is a former board member for the Cook County Bar Association-Community Law Project and served a term as the independent ethics officer for the Chicago Housing Authority. Mr. Henderson has represented individuals and non-profit organizations in consumer fraud cases, contract disputes and felony criminal actions on a pro bono basis. He is a former chairman of the Chicago Committee on Minorities In Large Law Firms and has contributed columns to The Chicago Lawyer Magazine.

Mr. Henderson is a member of the Illinois bar and was also admitted to the New York bar and the bar of Washington, D.C. He received his B.S.E. degree at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and his legal education at the Georgetown University Law Center earning his J.D. in 1988, where he was a member of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics.
